The Center Weather Service Units (CWSUs) provide text and graphical forecast information on their websites. Although each CWSU's customers, geographical location and airspace may require unique forecast information the CWSU community is working toward a standard set weather hazard products.

The first example of this is the Tactical Decision Aid (TDA). The TDA was originally developed as a "stop light" chart to indicate good, marginal or bad criteria based on the Terminal Aerodrome Forecast (TAF). Green indicates favorable or good weather, yellow represents marginal forecast conditions and red often indicates unfavorable weather criteria. To learn more about the TAF TDA click here.

The TAF TDA became the benchmark for other forecast criteria that may negatively impact en-route flights along certain Jet Routes; effects on arrival and departure navigation aids for airports and may include forecasts for waypoints or outer markers for arrival and departure traffic in the Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON).

- The TRACON TDA information regarding the criteria and data displays can be seen by clicking here.

- The Corner post TDA information regarding the criteria and data displays can be seen by clicking here.

- The Jet Route TDA information regarding the criteria and data displays can be seen by clicking here.

- The winds affecting the arrival and departure flows may increase aircraft compression which does negatively affect the ability to safely manage airflow, so in the spirit of developing TDAs you can learn more about Compression TDAs by clicking here.
