Interactive Forecast Preparation System Taking Root at Forecast Offices

IFPS and NDFD were primary topics of interest when NWS Headquarters was visited by the NOAA Administrator in late 2002. Vice Admiral Conrad C. Lautenbacher, Jr., U.S. Navy (Ret.), third from left, was greeted by, left to right, Bob Glahn, NWS Director Jack Kelly, and Frank Kelly, Jack Hayes, and Dierdre Jones. Glahn, Frank Kelly, and Jones all work for Jack Hayes, Director, NWS Office of Science and Technology.

This National Digital Forecast Database mosaic depicts the maximum temperature forecast for January 27, 2003. The experimental graphic, is a mosaic of more than 100 WFO grids – a few software details are still being worked out.
