Charles Lake Keeps NWS Equipment Humming Along

John Rasheed (left) and Charles Lake (right) of the NWS's
National Reconditioning Center inspect a weighing Rain Gauge which has
been in use for more than 35 years. The Rain Gauge is now being modified
and most of its mechanical parts are being replaced by a new technology
called a pressure transducer.

Charles Lake points out a barometric chamber still used to
test Barographs. The barometric chamber predates Lake's arrival at the
NRC in1976.

NRC's Charles Lake (left) and Roy Wiggins (right) discuss the
workings of a Hygrothermograph. Other modules shown in this photo are
Power Amplifiers used in the Wind Profiler.
