NOAA's NWS Snapshots
January 31 , 2005

Science teacher (and former NWS meteorologist) Jill Last teaches a future weather observer how to measure snow at the annual Einstein Science Expo, held on January 15, 2005, in Green Bay, WI. The event drew over 3,000 children and parents on a bitter cold Saturday to learn more about earth, life, and natural sciences. The theme of the WFO Green Bay, WI, exhibit was "How We Measure the Weather." Photo by Jeff Last, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, WFO Green Bay.

Hatch (center) demonstrates to the children how he measures rain and snow with a rain gage. WFO Salt Lake City presented the Thomas Jefferson Award to Hatch of Koosharem, UT, on January 14, 2005, at the Koosharem Elementary School with all students in attendance.
