Boise Forecast Office Hosts First Annual Research Day


For his project for Research Day, Boise Service Hydrologist Jay Breidenbach explains the effect of beam blockage in areas of local radar coverage on the WSR-88D precipitation estimation algorithm. Pizza remains are visible on the table.

Boise Lead Forecaster Les Colin explains the gridded forecast verification method and verification visualization graphics he developed.

Tom Egger and Darrell Huston review some of the many posters after the research seminar concludes. The staff voted on the research project that would have the greatest operational impact on the office.
