John Guiney, Chief, Meteorological Services Division, Eastern Region

NOAA’s NWS John Guiney, Chief, Meteorological Services Division, Eastern Region, is interviewed by independent videographer, Chris Burville for a documentary on Bermuda’s Hurricane Fabian. Fabian was a long-lived, powerful Cape Verde hurricane that struck Bermuda with category three intensity. It caused extensive damage on that island, where it was reported to be the worst hurricane since 1926. The shoot featured Guiney at a computer console explaining how hurricanes are formed, what dictates their path and speed and the mechanics of the eye. Burville will release the documentary on DVD and video at the end of fall, with distribution only in Bermuda. Photo by Marcie Katcher, NOAA/NWS Public Affairs, Eastern Region.
