EMWIN-N Test Broadcasts

EMWIN-N test broadcast on GOES 14:

GOES 14 (formerly GOES-O) is broadcasting a test EMWIN-N data stream until December 2009. This will give prospective vendors an excellent opportunity to develop and test EMWIN-N receive systems under real conditions with a broadcast directly from a GOES-N series satellite.

The GOES 14 satellite is at 89.5 degrees West and the broadcast is on 1692.7 MHz.

EMWIN-N test broadcast available GOES 10:

The GOES 10 satellite will be removed from service in December 2009.  GOES 10 has an EMWIN-N test broadcast approximating the EMWIN-N broadcast that will be present on the GOES N series satellites.  Users and vendors can continue to receive the broadcast for several more weeks.

The GOES 10 broadcast of EMWIN-N differs in content and slightly in frequency, however the modulation, coding and data rate are the same.  The signal power on GOES 10 is also somewhat higher, but the signal to noise ratio is a close approximation.

The GOES 10 satellite is at 60 degrees West and the broadcast is on 1691.4 MHz.
