The NWS Emergency Management Weather Information Network (EMWIN) team is considering a second RFI Workshop to be held at NWS Headquarters in Silver Spring, MD. The first workshop which was held on December 11, 2006. Several firms that were unable to attend have expressed interest in an additional workshop. If there is sufficient interest among vendors a second workshop will be scheduled in the 1st quarter of 2007. We encourage any interested parties to email us if they would like to attend.
The RFI is posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website in connection with the latest developments in the EMWIN program. We believe that this RFI, and the specifications it contains, will be of particular interest in the marketing opportunity it represents to those firms with experience in design and manufacture of low cost, reliable satellite receivers.
The workshop would provide further information about the changes which will occur in the EMWIN system as a result of the advent of the new generation of the NOAA Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES-N). The workshop would take about 2 hours in length and be hosted at the NWS Headquarters located adjacent to the Silver Spring Metro Station. Click here for details on the conference agenda.
