Internet Pull

The  NWS uses an FTP server connected to an EMWIN ingestion engine to capture and zip data which is then made available to clients who download (pull) the data directly from the NWS to their computer. While FTP downloads can be accomplished manually, commercially available software automates the collection process. It is now possible to start an application that ingests the FTP files, minimize it, and forget it. Zipped data is "pulled" from the FTP server according to a schedule and made available as individual files on the client computer.
