Chinese Bilateral

Key program areas included the following:

  • Research on monsoons
  • Climate studies
  • Mesoscale meteorology
  • Satellite meteorology
  • Atmospheric chemistry
  • Tropical Ocean Global Experiment (TOGA)
  • Training and Participation Program.
  • Service modernization activities - this will cover collaboration and cooperation in the modernization of both National Meteorological Services.
  • Exchange of scientists and trainees between the two sides - with U.S. experts visiting China and vice versa
  • Convening of technical workshops in both countries in many of the above Program Areas
