The National Climate Data Center (NCDC) has placed national WSR-88D Doppler Radar mosaic reflectivity images on line for web users to browse. Images can be accessed through the NCDC web site pointing directly to:
The images are produced by Weather Services International and provided through the Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment Continental-Scale International Project. Mosaic images are available once daily from April 1, 1995, through April 18, 1997, and hourly from April 19, 1997, to the present time. The availability of the most recent image is delayed approximately 2 days to comply with copyright requirements.
As of 12 UTC on September 24, 1997, the GOES 9 sounder moisture data were integrated into the operational Early eta model. The insertion of GOES 8 moisture data began 36 hours later. The model is ingesting GOES sounder data over both land and water. Difference plots of the GOES total precipitable water versus the initial Eta analysis can be seen at:
