1: Response
The VSAT antenna needed for the reception of ISCS data is manufactured by Prodelin. It is a C-band antenna and is sized with a diameter of 2.4 meters. The antenna uses a Baird non-penetrating mount.

2: Response
Issues related to workstation replacements for the Star4, and the readiness of ISCS workstation providers to supply equipment and software are best addressed by those providers. A listing of "known" workstation suppliers is available on the ISCS web page at www.nws.noaa.gov/iscs/workstationvendors.htm. All other workstation issues may be directed to the NOAA/NWS International Activities office.

3: Response
The ISCS network is based on the CCITT/ITU standard TCP/IP protocol. The ISCS WAFS broadcast will be an IP Multicast.

All site equipment is available from Verizon. Christine Ratkovich1 is the account manager assigned to the ISCS program. Her email address is christine.ratkovich@verizonbusiness.com. Please contact her directly for cost information pertaining to the VSAT and network interface equipment.


5: Response

If you would like to become a registered ISCS/WAFS receiver, the process is as following:

* Contact your State (Country) Representative to ICAO for approval to access WAFS data. The names of the State Representatives can be obtained by contacting the appropriate Regioanl ICAO Office: http://www.icao.int/icao/en/address.htm

* Email a copy of the approval, from your ICAO State Representative, to the US FAA Representative (Steven Albersheim) at steven.albersheim@faa.gov.

* FAA Representative will approve or disapprove your request for access to ISCS/WAFS; approved access request will be forwarded to the NWS ISCS Program Office.

* Upon receipt of approved access requests, the NWS ISCS Program Office will contact you to obtain the following to complete your registration as an authorized ISCS/WAFS receiver:

  • Primary and Secondary Point of Contact for your site

  • E-mail address, Telephone and FAX numbers of point of contact

  • E-mail address, Telephone and FAX numbers for Operations Center of your site

  • Days and Hours of operation for your site

  • Postal and street address for your site

  • Your INTERNET web page address should your site/organization have one
