Degrib (NDFD GRIB2 Decoder)
The only difference between 1.70 and 1.71 was the addition of
colortables for apparentT and RH, so I did not send out
release notes for 1.71. What follows is the release notes for 1.70:
Subject: Degrib 1.70
Date: Wed, 15 Jun 2005 15:07:01 -0400

----------- General News.
As of 14Z today, NDFD was supposed to reconfigure some elements and introduce 2 new experimental elements.
1) MaxT, MinT, Temp, DP, PoP12, Wx should become operational for PR and
2) Apparent Temperature, and Relative Humidity, are experimental for
CONUS, PR, Hawaii, and guam.
I'd recommend downloading the new version which has already been
reconfigured. If you'd rather just reconfigure it, you need to modify
the "/degrib/bin/ndfd.ini". To reconfigure for part 1, you can use
"tkdegrib" (See menu item "File->Configure"). However to introduce two
new variables, you need to actually edit the ndfd.ini file.
Note: since they haven't actually sent out ApparentT or rh, I'm not
quite sure about the abbreviation of the files. I've assumed they will
be "ds.apparentt.bin" and "ds.rh.bin", but if my assumption is wrong,
expect a release 1.71 shortly.
----------- News about this release:
I have just finished putting together version "1.70" (last one that I
announced was "1.68" on 3/30/2005).
This release is mainly focused on handling the change of status of NDFD
variables, but I've also included some makefiles for more platforms.
1) Reconfigured Variables : MaxT, MinT, Temp, DP, PoP12, Wx become
operational for PR and Hawaii. Introduced variables: ApparentT, RH.
(also found out that SnowAmt for Hawaii was mis configured)
2) Added support for downloading Gridded GFS MOS from the NDGD using
tkdegrib. Note: Gridded GFS MOS currently only appears to cover the
west, but over time it will be spreading.
3) Thanks to Gimond Manuel, was able to get Sun makefiles into the main
4) Thanks to Eishi ISOYA was able to get MacOSX makefiles for parts that
didn't have them, and confirm that existing mac makefiles continued to work.
5) Thanks to Rob Doornbos found a bug dealing with multiple closings
of the same file (it was in GRIB2Probe() in probe.c).
6) Fixed some labeling issues, and web site pages.
Please let me know if you have problems.
