Hi everyone,

You are amongst the 6,597 degrib users registered on the degrib update mailing
list. The lastest version of degrib is 1.99 and can be downloaded from

----- Begin REMINDER -----

The NDFD 2.5 km (as opposed to 5 km) grids are available in the experimental
directories. They are only available for the CONUS sector (no sub-sectors or

They are broken up into four files (as opposed to two) for day 1, 2, 3 and
4-7. This was done to allow some variables, such as Temperature, to be
disseminated on an hourly (as opposed to 3 hourly) basis for the first 36

Please experiment with these data as they have finer spatial and temporal
resolution. NWS is planning to replace the current operational (5 km) data
next year, so now is the time to send comments to:

Perhaps answering: What will be the impact to you (both good and bad) of
switching to this new data set? Do you need CONUS sub-sectors in addition
to full CONUS grids? If so, which sectors and what resolution?

----- End REMINDER -----

The focus of release 1.99 is:

A) To enhance the GUI "tkdegrib" and command line program "tcldegrib web.tcl"
to be able to access both the experimental and operational National Digital
Forecast Database (NDFD) and National Digital Guidance Database (NDGD).
Tkdegrib now stores the data in "ndfd" "ndfd_expr" "ndgd" and "ndgd_expr"
subdirectories of /degrib/data. Additionally tkdegrib is able to merge the
day 1, 2, 3, 4-7 files together into a single day 1-7 file.

B) Add support for experimental Ice Accumulation and Maximum/Minimum Relative
Humidity to tkdegrib.

Please let me know if you have problems.
