SCAN News
Moving Ahead
SCAN has been primarily unchanged for a number of AWIPS builds now.  We are looking to the future to provide a new version of SCAN that has more of what users want.  We'd like to retain strengths and eliminate weaknesses as we provide SCAN2, some time in the AWIPS2 future.  We have yet to define requirements for SCAN2, so if you have feedback to provide, please do so, either through the annual MDL User Survey, the SCAN email list server, or direct email to the Task Lead (Tom Filiaggi).  We want SCAN to automate what can comfortably be automated, and assist in Decision Assistance in a way that makes the job of the Severe Weather Forecaster less stressful and more productive.  How can SCAN sift through mountains of data on AWIPS1/2 and tell you what you need to know quickly, and with accuracy?
