afos2awips.txt instructions: (Wayne Martin, SST) 5/25/01 (Updated, M Sutton) 11/01/05 The afos2awips.txt file, located in /awips/fxa/data on each workstation and server, is used on the text and graphics workstations when issuing products to convert the AFOS PIL into a WMO Header for product transmission. Ensure that the afos2awips.txt file contains entries for each of the products your site could issue as well as the products you could issue for each of the sites you back up. Do not copy the national afos2awips.txt product over your site copy! Changes to the national afos2awips.txt file should be merged into the office copy, to ensure that no products are dropped. Copy the revised afos2awips.txt file to all servers and workstations. To activate the afos2awips.txt file, it is probably safest to logout/login to each workstation after updating the file. This ensures that all applications that may be running read the updated copy of the afos2awips.txt file. There should be no need to stop/restart any processes on the servers because the afos2awips.txt file should be read each time a process is activated.
