Reference: AWIPS National Datasets Maintenance

Updating the AWIPS National Datasets continues at a frustrating pace.
The following actions can improve the process.

As requested in my November 3, 1999 email to awipsinfo, Frances Curnow
has been assigned the task of maintaining the AWIPS national datasets as
identified below. All requests for edits/deletions/additions to these
datasets should be emailed to:

 frances.curnow@noaa.gov   OR     awipsndm@infolist.nws.noaa.gov

We have established a new awipsndm listserver to keep track of the requests
and to ensure that the changes do not get lost. This awipsndm listserver
will forward the requested changes to the AWIPS national dataset
maintainers (Fran Curnow, Fred Branski, FSL, OSF, TDL). Be aware - this
list has the attachment problems inherent with listservers.

It is critical that sites send in the changes needed to the national
datasets. We are identifying the national datasets that must be
downloaded "fresh" when 4.3 is released. Three recently updated files are
afos2awips.txt, ispan_table.template, and wmoSiteInfo.txt.

Sites will be notified (with appropriate instructions) as the national
datasets are updated.
