Outreach

The Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) weather paradigm will require NOAA to evaluate the methodologies used to produce the aviation specific weather forecast products provided today. Emerging NextGen weather requirements for latency, temporal and spatial resolutions, refresh rates, and accuracy of aviation products are not likely viable using today’s methods. Though the details and timeframes involved in these changes are still being finalized, there is an immediate need to educate the producers and users of aviation weather forecasts that significant change is on the horizon

The goals for NextGen Outreach are to improve internal understanding of the NextGen vision and the NextGen weather paradigm throughout the NWS and other impacted NOAA agencies. External outreach to our aviation partners and customers is a necessity, specifically referring to changes they can expect and when. In addition, collaboration between the NWS, FAA, and other NextGen contributing agencies to ensure a consistent outreach plan, is essential.

Each of the targeted audience groups will require a slightly different approach to outreach and educational material. Each focused outreach presentation must be applicable to the group and easy for them to understand.
