| The GOES Ingest
NOAAPORT Interface (GINI) subsystem creates products in real-time
from the data provided by the GOES satellites and feeds them to the NCF. GINI
creates all products possible from a given scan. That is, if a scan contains enough
of the information required to build a given product, GINI will build that product. GINI
is data driven; its products are built in memory and when complete are transmitted
serially in the following order: - highest resolution visible product,
then
- IR products in channel order.
The largest product created
by GINI is the CONUS 1 km visible product (approx. 26 MB) . When GINI experiences
any kind of input interruption, the percentage of data processed is checked against
threshold values preset by the operator. The transmission of a given product occurs
if the threshold is exceeded. Users are not notified of missed satellite products.
