This page provides links to the IHFS Database (IHFS_DB) documentation.  IHFS_DB is the relational database that provides integrated data storage and access for hydrologic functions within AWIPS.  The database design described here is common to both RFC and WFO functionality supported by the Office of Hydrologic Development.  The documentation consists of Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and a Data Dictionary.   In addition, a number of Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) are included that focus on data ingest and other batch type processes that use the IHFS_DB.

We have also published a paper describing the evolution of the IHFS Database and a paper discussing the Ingest, Quality Control, and Processing of Hydrometeorological Data at National Weather Service Field Offices.

Note: For AWIPS Release OB9.2, the name of the databases will change to hd_ob92xxx. There are no other changes to the database from the OB9.0 version.
