APPENDIX D. SAMPLE RIVERPRO PRODUCT
The sample product is composed of sections: a header section, a summary section (by river groups),
a hydrometeorological basis section (edits required), a tabular section, a narrative paragraph for
each forecast point, and a call-to-action section. The narrative paragraph describes the
forecast point in three ways: a descriptive roundup of the data for the location, a
statement of the impact of flooding at the location, and a reference to a historical
crest at the station.
The flood impact statements and the historical crests are obtained directly from SHIMS-based
datasets. Other fields obtained from SHIMS-based data are the flood stage, location name, UGC
information, and river name. The flood categories (major, moderate, and minor) are also used.
