7.2.1 RIVER GAGE  (Page 1)

These forms contain the location information that is specific to its river gage characteristics, if
a river gage exists at the location.  Page 1 of this information contains two sections: the
Geographic/Physical Section and the Gage History Section.


                                  River Gage Form - Page 1

Geographic/Physical Section: 
    LID:                The location ID.  The name and the state information appear to
                        the left of the LID field display for informational purposes.
    Stream:             The name of the stream.
    Revise Date:        The date this form was last changed. This field is not
                        automatically updated unless blank.
    Lat/Lon:            The latitude and longitude of the river gage in degrees,
                        minutes, and seconds, separated by blanks.
    Drainage Area:      The drainage area in square miles.
    River Mile:         The number of miles above the mouth (on some rivers, this may
                        be the miles below the source).
    Flood Stage:        The flood stage in feet.
    Flood Flow:         The flow at flood stage in CFS.
    Zero Datum:         The zero gage elevation.
    Datum Reference:    The vertical datum used in defining the zero datum.
    Period of Record:   The period of record for this location.
    Rated:              The agency and date of the last rating at this location.
    Leveling:           The agency and date of the last leveling at this location.
    Lat/Lon Source:     The source used for the latitude and longitude of the river gage.
    Forecast Type:      The type of forecasts issued for this location.  The choices are 
                        H-Headwater, F-Flood, D-Daily, I-Inflow, and S-Snowmelt.
    USGS No:            The eight digit USGS river gage identification.
    Bankfull:           The bankfull stage in feet.
    Check Bar:          The check bar reading of a wire weight gage at this location.
    Pool:               The gage reading when the location is in low water pool.
    Action:             The action stage in feet.
    Tidal Effect:       The effect of ocean tides on gage readings.
    Backwater:          The effect of backwater on gage readings.

Gage History Section:  (this section scrolls)
    Type:               The type of river gage.
    Owner:              The agency which owns the gage.
    Maintained:         The agency which maintains the gage.
    Begin:              The date the gage began service.
    End:                The date the gage was removed.  Leave blank if gage is still in
                        service. 
    Location:           The exact location of the gage, any recording devices
                        connected to it, and any other comments about the gage or its
                        history.
