CURRENT JOB FUNCTIONS:

Develops policies to ensure integrity of the climate record.
Establishes climate requirements for data, products, and services.
Establishes climate requirments for NWS observing systems.
Identifies resources needed to implement changes and improve customer climate record services and seeks resources as necessary.
Conducts outreach to climate partners, customers, and professional organizations regarding the state of NWS climate record activities.
Leads NWSH Climate Services Division "Climate Data Stewardship" team.

REPORTS/PUBLICATIONS:

Bob has authored, co-authored, and provided substantial input for over 90 reports, published papers, including articles in peer-reviewed journals, periodicals, and/or conference preprints, and press releases during his NOAA career.

 

ORAL PRESENTATIONS:

Bob has delivered numerous professional talks, seminars, and lectures.  Oral presentations range from delivering dozens of papers at professional conferences to periodic briefings for the Central Intelligence Agency on temperature impacts on international oil consumption during the 1970's oil crises.  He has also appeared as an invited speaker for the White House science staff, National Academy of Sciences, the National Research Council, American Meteorological Society, and the National Weather Association. He has been a guest lecturer for graduate students at numerous universities. Bob has facilitated numerous meeting, workshops, and conferences, and has chaired an Amercian Meteorological Society session at one of the organization’s annual meetings. He has also lectured at training seminars for NWS field staff.

 

 

MEDIA INTERVIEWS:

Bob has performed a number of television, radio, and periodical (newspapers, magazines, etc.) interviews over the span of his NOAA career.  Some have received national exposure. Subjects range from recent studies of record snowfalls to the impacts of weather and climate anomalies on national and international economies.

 

PERSONAL:
