RIVERPRO SPRING TRAINING DRILL
Use the step by step instructions found in the "WWA & RiverPro Software Operating
Instructions" to perform the tasks in this drill.
- Create a Daily River Statement (RVS) for the Missouri River OR the Milk
River OR the St. Mary River (your choice). Send the product to AWIPS using
"TEST ISSUE". Print the product and turn in to Charlotte.
- Create a Flood Warning (FLW) for flooding on the Smith River due to heavy
rains. Make any edits to the product that are needed (they should be important).
Follow the step by step instructions carefully - don't forget to edit the
UGC code. Send the product to AWIPS using "TEST ISSUE". Print the product
and turn in to Charlotte.
- Record low flows are forecast on the Marias River. What type of hydro product,
if any, would you issue? Send the product to AWIPS using "TEST ISSUE". Print
the product and turn in to Charlotte.
- MBRFC forecasts the Jefferson River near Three Forks to crest at 8 feet
and then fall on the third day forecast. This forecast is based strictly on
QPF. What actions would you take? Would you issue any hydro product based
on your actions? What product, if any, would you issue? If you would issue
a product, send the product to AWIPS using "TEST ISSUE". Print the product
and turn in to Charlotte.
- Heavy rains look very likely in the 7-10 day outlook. QPFs are impressive
on all the long range models. You look at the five day Missouri River forecast
from the MBRFC. Their forecasts have the river rising each day during that
5 day period...something that hasn't been seen before. What actions would
you take? What hydro product(s) could you issue? If you would issue any product,
send the product to AWIPS using "TEST ISSUE". Print the product and turn in
to Charlotte.
- What product do you issue to end a flood statement? What is the header using
Riverpro? Send the product to AWIPS
using "TEST ISSUE". Print the product and turn in to Charlotte.
- Radar indicates that rain over
the Highwoods is exceeding Flash Flood Guidance for Chouteau County. You call
some spotters in the area, and find out that rain is exceeding what the radar
is indicating. First, print out a copy of the Flash Flood Guidance. Second,
What product would you issue? Send
the product to AWIPS using "TEST ISSUE". Print the product and turn both products
in to Charlotte.
