Resource for NWS Alerts Information
The NWS plans to
experimentally produce Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) v1.2 Integrated Public
Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) profile messages by fall 2011. In preparation, the NWS has created online
documentation in a collaborative "wiki" venue for anyone wishing to review
and participate in discussion regarding the CAP elements planned for
production. This new venue is available to the national and international
community and will be especially useful for developers and redistributors of
NWS watches, warnings, advisories and special statements.
The new wiki, hosted
through the U.S. General Services Administration’s Apps.gov NOW service,
includes a documentation page and a collaborative discussion page for each CAP
element NWS plans to produce. Visitors
may register for a user account to take part in the collaborative discussion
pages and be automatically notified whenever there are changes to these and the
documentation pages.
The new wiki is
located at
https://wiki.citizen.apps.gov/nws_developers
To register for a
user account, click Login/create at the top right of the page.
