Subject:  Soliciting Comments through April 1, 2014, on an

          Experimental Provision of Supplemental Public Safety

          Information Before, During and After High Impact

          Weather Events


NWS is accepting comments through April 1, 2014, on an

experimental service to disseminate credible, relevant and timely

public safety information from other government agencies before,

during and after high impact weather, water and climate events

through NWS SPS or PNS products.


Joining with other government agencies to communicate weather-

related public safety information bolsters the efforts of our

collective agency assets to advise preparedness and response

efforts that will minimize threats to public safety from high

impact weather, water and climate events. Through the existing

expansive delivery infrastructure, NWS can significantly elevate

awareness of serious threats such as, but not limited to, carbon

monoxide poisoning from generator use during power outages,

harmful mold exposure during or after flooding, and heat stroke

during heat waves. As an example, the NWS partnered with CDC to

disseminate a statement at the link below:
