SUBJECT: Updated: Soliciting Comments until April 30, 2018, on

         the Expansion of the Winter Weather Probabilistic

         Experiment beginning December 15, 2017         

 

Updated to expand experiment to an additional 21 NWS Weather

Forecast Offices (WFO) and extend comment period to
April 30, 2018

 

Effective immediately, 21 additional WFOs will start producing

probabilistic storm total snow products ahead of anticipated winter storms.

These offices will join 44 offices which issued the products last winter.

Graphical and tabular products will show the low end, official forecast and

high end snow amounts a storm is likely to produce. Examples of these products

Narrow ranges between the minimum and maximum snowfall totals indicate high

forecast certainty, while large ranges between minimum and maximum totals indicate

low forecast certainty.
