SUBJECT:   Mixed-Case Text/95 ASCII Character Set Short

           Duration Watch, Warning and Advisory Product

           Examples, Tentatively Scheduled July–August 2016


Following the initial implementation of mixed case NWS products

on or about May 11, 2016, the NWS will implement a second group

of mixed-case text/95 ASCII character set products; short

duration Watch, Warning, and Advisory (WWA) products.  This

second implementation is tentatively scheduled to occur in the

July–August 2016 timeframe.


Examples of the mixed-case format WWA products are online in a

compressed file (which should be readable by standard

compression software):

None of the products shown were actually issued, they are shown

for sample formatting purposes only.


A future Service Change Notice (SCN) announcing this

implementation will be issued with at least a 30-day lead time,

complete with AWIPS product identifiers and an actual effective



Partners and users of NWS text products should modify their

systems to accommodate mixed case text and the expanded

character set.  This change will make text products easier to

read and allow users to click on Internet links directly rather

than converting them to lowercase or mixed case.
