Subject: Change to the Depiction of Disturbances on the
48-Hour Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook Effective

         July 1, 2014

Effective July 1 2014, the 48-hour Graphical Tropical Weather

Outlook (TWO) produced by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and

Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) will no longer indicate

the locations of disturbances by encircling them; instead,

locations of current disturbances will be marked with an X.

This change is being made to enhance consistency and efficiency

with the new experimental five-day Graphical TWO that will be

produced by NHC. On the new five-day graphic, circles or swaths

designate potential formation areas, with the current location of

a disturbance indicated by an X.  Depicting disturbance

locations with the same symbols across both graphics will

minimize potential confusion.

NHC makes certain datasets available in GIS format as a

convenience to users. Effective July 1, 2014, the GIS version of

the 48-hour Graphical TWO will not be available.  NHC expects to

make a GIS version of the Graphical TWO available again at some

point during the 2014 hurricane season.
