Subject: Changes in Fire and Public Zones for NWS Weather

         Forecast Office Jacksonville, FL, for Duval and Nassau

         Counties, Florida, Effective February 4, 2015.

 

Effective Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at 1:00 PM Eastern

Standard Time (EST), 1800 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the

Duval and Nassau County fire and public weather forecast zones

for NWS Weather Forecast Office (WFO) Jacksonville (JAX), FL,

will be split into two zones: a coastal zone and an inland zone.

 

The coastal-inland split will be along Interstate 95 from the

Florida-Georgia State line to the Duval-St. Johns County line.

These changes will provide increased flexibility and improved

accuracy of forecast and various watches, warnings and advisories

in the fire and public weather programs.

systems recognize the new UGC (Z) and new zone alignments and

names. These changes do not affect products using county (C) UGC.
