Subject:  Addition and Changes in Fire and Public Forecast Zones

          for the Channel Islands National Park effective

          February 4, 2015

 

Effective Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at 1000 AM Pacific

Standard Time, 1800 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the NWS

Weather Forecast Office in Los Angeles, CA, (WFO LOX) will add

two new fire and two new public weather zones and reconfigure one

existing fire zone and one public zone. Upon implementation of

this change, all fire and public forecasts and related products

for the Channel Islands National Park will use the zone numbers

and names shown below. Including this land area into fire and

public weather zones will make point forecast and National

Digital Forecast Database (NDFD) information available to the

general public, as well as allow the option for

watch/warning/advisory products.

 

The new zone numbers, names and description of the zone area are

listed below:

 

WFO Los Angeles, CA Fire and Public Weather Forecast Zones

CAZ087 (Public)             Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands

CAZ287 (Fire)

 

This zone currently only includes Catalina Island and will now

include Santa Barbara Island.

 

CAZ549 (Public)              San Miguel and Santa Rosa Islands

CAZ549 (Fire)

 

This new fire/public zone includes San Miguel and Santa Rosa

Islands.

 

CAZ550 (Public)              Santa Cruz and Anacapa Islands

CAZ550 (Fire)

 

This new fire/public zone includes Santa Cruz and Anacapa

Islands.
