Subject:  Changes to some Marine and Land Zones of Coastal

          Southern Oregon effective November 10, 2015

 

Effective Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at 1 PM Pacific Standard

Time (PST), 2100 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the NWS

Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Medford, OR, (MFR) will:

 

1. Transfer some small inland marine areas up the rivers and

bays of coastal southern Oregon from marine zones to fire and

public zones

 

2. Transfer some small land areas off the coast of southern

Oregon from fire and public zones to marine zones

 

3. Discontinue Coos Bay Bar (PZZ310) and Chetco River Bar

(PZZ330) marine zones

 

These changes, which are graphical only, are summarized below. 

There are no changes to any zone names or Universal Geographic

Codes (UGC).

 

Marine zone PZZ350 - Coastal Waters from Florence to Cape

Blanco, OR, out 10 nm.  Any water area inland of the coastline

at the inlets will be a land area. Draw a line directly across

the inlet at the beach: all area to the west is marine zone

PZZ350 and all area to the east is public zone ORZ021 and fire

zone ORZ615. All small islands off the coast in PZZ350 will be

considered in the PZZ350 marine zone.

 

Marine zone PZZ310, Coos Bay Bar, is not used in any products

and will be discontinued.

 

Marine zone PZZ356 - Coastal Waters from Cape Blanco, OR, to Pt.

St. George, CA, out 10 nm.  Any water area inland of the

coastline at the inlets will be a land area.  Draw a line

directly across the inlet at the beach: all area to the west is

marine zone PZZ356 and all area to the east is public zones

ORZ021 and ORZ022 and fire zones ORZ615 and ORZ618, These fire

and public zones are north and south of Humbug State Park,

respectively. All small islands off the coast in PZZ356 will be

considered in the PZZ356 marine zone.

 

Marine zone PZZ330, Chetco River Bar, is not used in any

products and will be discontinued.

 

The modified zones are listed in Tables 1 and 2 below. WFO MFR

will continue to issue forecasts and warnings for the modified

zones via the products in Table 3.
