SUBJECT: Changes to the websites associated with the HADS

         system effective December 13, 2016


On or about December 13, 2016, the websites associated with the

Hydrometeorological Automated Data System (HADS) will point to

new URLs. As part of internal NWS infrastructure upgrades, HADS

is being integrated into the Meteorological Assimilation Data

Ingest System (MADIS), which will be upgraded to release 2.1.5

on December 13. The following changes can be expected as a

result of HADS becoming part of MADIS:

The content will remain the same throughout the website, however

many .html links have been changed to .shtml.


Users that have the HADS pages bookmarked will need to also

remove the path oh/hads or ohd/hads from the URL.  Example:

Under this URL will be subdirectories for the Weather Forecast

Offices (WFOs), River Forecast Centers (RFCs), National

Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center (NOHRSC), National

Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), and National Center

for Environmental Prediction (NCEI), and Mesowest.


Stakeholders who pull data from the HADS Public Website using

wget will need to use the command line option --no-check-

certificate when running the command.
