SUBJECT: Reduction in content of the Tropical Weather Discussion

(TWD) issued by the Tropical Analysis and Forecast

Branch (TAFB) Effective January 21, 2018

Effective Sunday, January 21, 2018, the NWS National Centers for

Environmental Prediction (NCEP)/National Hurricane Center (NHC)

Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch (TAFB) will remove the

section specifically addressing forecast conditions for

Hispaniola from the regular issuance of the Tropical Weather

Discussion (TWD).

This section was added temporarily following the Haiti

earthquake in January 2010. Significant weather for Hispaniola

will continue to be discussed in the TWD on an event-driven

basis, to include widespread heavy rainfall situations and

adverse marine weather.

Users do not need to make any changes to their systems to

continue receiving the TWD Atlantic and Pacific products, which

are each issued four times daily by TAFB.
