Subject:   Alaska Aviation Weather Unit and Volcanic Ash

Advisory Center Will Migrate to a New Layout on

Their Web Home Pages Effective May 10, 2017

On or shortly after May 10, 2017, the Alaska Aviation Weather

Unit (AAWU) and the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) will

migrate to a new layout on their web home pages.

This change is in response to a required web infrastructure

consolidation. The change will provide office-to-office

consistency because the layout of the home page will be set

across the Region.

In addition, per Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directive

M-15-13, all publicly accessible federal websites and services

will provide service through a secure connection (https).

The OMB directive can be found at:

An example of what the new front page for the AAWU will look like

Also, if you have automated scripts, we highly encourage you to

use Official NWS Application Programming Interface (APIs),

documented here:

Be sure to use "https" in place of "http" in all your automation
