Subject: Changes to RWRTX Products in Texas Effective

         July 26, 2017

Effective Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 1800 Coordinated

Universal Time (UTC), 200 PM EDT, the NWS Texas Weather Forecast

Offices (WFO) in Lubbock (LUB), Austin/San Antonio

(EWX) and Dallas/Fort Worth (FWD) will issue their current

Regional Weather Roundup (RWRTX) product under new AWIPS IDs.

The NWS created new AWIPS IDs specific for each office for ease

in parsing and locating the product easier on websites.

TABLE 1:  Old and New AWIPS IDs

Office          WMO Header   Old AWIPS ID   New AWIPS ID

----------      ----------    -------------  ---------

Lubbock         ASUS44 KLUB     RWRTX        RWRLUB

Fort Worth      ASUS44 KFWD     RWRTX        RWRFWD

San Antonio     ASUS44 KEWX     RWRTX        RWREWX

NWS partners and users will need to make necessary changes to

their communications systems to receive the new AWIPS IDs listed

in Table 1 by July 26, 2017.

The waiver is requested to implement this change before the

forecaster refractor date of August 14, 2017 when it will become

more difficult for users and NWS staff to locate the correct

office product under the RWRTX. Additionally, since only three

field offices are impacted by this proposed change and the

change itself is minimal, a 30 day (in contrast to a 75 day)

notice is sufficient time for partners and users to make

necessary changes to their communication systems to receive the

new AWIPS IDs provided the Service Change Notice.

The effective date of this change is sooner than specified by

NWS Policy (NWS Instruction 10-1805).  The shorter advance lead

time was approved because only three field offices are impacted

by this proposed change and the change itself is minimal.

Starting on July 26, 2017, users can find the products via the

new AWIPS IDs at:
