Subject: Updated Decommissioning of the Centralized Automated

Data Acquisition System Effective March 30, 2018

Updated to modify the effective date from December 15, 2017, to

March 30, 2018 and to update location list to note those that

have completed the retrofit.

Effective on or about March 30, 2018, 1800 UTC, the RRS Products

from Centralized Automated Data Acquisition System (CADAS) will

no longer be produced and disseminated. The system will be

decommissioned. The following observation locations currently

collected by CADAS are being retrofitted to use the

Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite Data

Collection System (GOES DCP):

CNDN6 - Canandaigua, NY (completed)

HFEW2 - Harpers Ferry, WV

WLLM2 - Williamsport, MD

WRRV2 - Waynesboro, VA (completed)

WRNO1 - Warren, OH (completed)

DALV2 Dale Enterprise, VA (completed)

CPBO1 - Napoleon on the Maumee, OH (completed)

DEFO1 - Maumee River at Defiance, OH

BBOW3 - Baraboo River - West Baraboo, WI (completed)

JFFW3 - Rock River - Jefferson, WI (completed)

RSPW3 - Baraboo River - Rock Springs, WI (completed)

Date and time these sites will be retrofitted is to be

determined. Once retrofitted and operational, the observed data

will become available via the Hydrometeorological Automated Data

Systems (HADS) produced nnn/RRS products (same WMO header and

RRSxxx headers as used with CADAS). This will improve the

reliability of the data for these forecast locations.

Example of current CADAS RRS product with a site to be

retrofitted:

: && CADAS Products originate from the CADAS system and are not

distributed by HADS

Example of a HADS product with the same site retrofitted:

:END OF REPORT

NOTE: The SHEF code type-source will change from RP to RG

because the readings source will change from phone to GOES.

There will likely be an increase of data available with each

GOES transmission and if so, the .A SHEF encoded message will

become a .E and be followed by more data values.

:END OF REPORT

The metadata and processed data for these sites will also become

available via the HADS website, https://hads.ncep.noaa.gov
