Subject: Reminder: Removal of NCEP Model Analysis and
Forecast Webpage: Effective August 30, 2011
On August 30, 2011, the National Centers
for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) will remove the Model Analysis and Forecast
(MAF) webpages, currently available at:
http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/
The NWS issued a Public Information
Statement announcing NCEP’s
operational Model Analysis and Guidance (MAG) website:
The MAF and MAG websites showcase the NWS suite of graphical
numerical model analyses and guidance and observational database. Based on the
comments received from the PNS, NCEP declared the MAG operational on March 15,
2011, and will remove the older MAF website and all of its contents on August
30, 2011.
Some images available on the MAF site are now generated by the
MAG. During periods when the numerical models are running and producing output,
images on the MAF may lead (be available sooner than MAF indicates), lag (not
be available as quickly), or not be available for a few minutes.
A document is provided on the MAG website
to guide users in transitioning to the new MAG-provided static image links.
Users are strongly encouraged to transition to the new static image links when
they become available.
For more information and updates, please
refer to the MAG’s
Latest Information and News document at:
