Vermont Governor Signs Flood Safety Awareness Week Proclamation

Vermont Governor James Douglas, a good friend of the National Weather Service, signed a proclamation declaring March 15-19 as Flood Safety Awareness Week across the state.  The signing ceremony took place at the Vermont state house on Friday, March 12.

Governor Douglas, a good friend of the National Weather Service (NWS), has visited the Burlington Weather Forecast Office on several occasions.  He frequents the NWS outreach booths at various events.  Governor Douglas has always been gracious in accepting any requests for NWS Safety Awareness Campaigns.

The governor was more than gracious and very appreciative to the NWS Burlington office for the continued partnerships with his office and Vermont Emergency Management, as well as the NWS responsiveness to his requests over the years.
