TADD Sign Program

TADD sign on country road

Chinquapin, NC along Durwood  Evans Rd. Small flood prone creek with no name that flows into the NE Cape Fear River .

see caption below

Also in Chinquapin NC , This signs is placed along NC Hwy 41 and intersection of Rodney Lanier road. Water from the NE Cape Fear River flooded this intersection up to the High Water Mark level during Hurricane Floyd. In the photo is the Duplin County Emergency Manager Reid Southerland and Sarah Jamison (MHX Hydro Focal Point).

Best Practices-

· Find flood prone areas but work with EMs/county officials and let them decide where to install them.

· Have them provide post and do the installation

· Promote the program through outreach (especially flood awareness week).

· When doing post flood event surveys, bring sign along to promote program to town officials

· Contact state DOT to help promote the program. We have provided them with Floyd/TADD posters and powerpoint slides for dual outreach.
