Product Availability Monitoring System (PAMS)

The Product Availability Monitoring System (PAMS) is a tool developed by the Office of Operational Systems of the National Weather Service (NWS).

PAMS is used to quantify the effectiveness of the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) comunication networks in delivering weather-related products from data sources to field sites; from field sites to the AWIPS Network Control Center for uplinking over the Satellite Broadcast Network (SBN); and to the NWS Telecommunication Gateway (NWSTG) for further distribution to users.

PAMS has been a powerful and indispensable aid in NWS communication system test efforts, including the AWIPS Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E), the Alphanumeric Backup System, and the Radar Product Central Collection/Distribution Service.
