Swath map of maximum 1 minute sustained wind speeds over Guam during Super Typhoon Paka on December 16, 1997. These peak wind speeds (units = knots) are based on advecting surface wind fields along Paka's track. These wind speeds are valid only for open terrain over land exposure at 10 meter height. The wind observation stations used to produce the swath are also shown (NOAA 1998).
