Subject: Soliciting comments on Experimental NOAA NWS Runoff

Risk Analysis Data (Version 2) for the Great Lakes

         states through November 30, 2018

The NWS is seeking feedback on the Experimental Runoff Risk

Analysis Data, Version 2, for the Great Lakes states through

November 30, 2018.

The development of runoff risk analysis data has been a multi-

agency collaborative effort consisting of many federal and state

agencies and academia. As part of NOAA's participation in the

Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, the North Central River

Forecast Center (NCRFC) and its neighboring River Forecast

Centers are working together to develop and provide runoff risk

analysis data based on event thresholds set by state agencies.

This experimental data is currently available for Wisconsin,

Minnesota, Ohio and Michigan. During the comment period, the

data will be made available to the remaining Great Lakes states

of Illinois, Indiana and New York.  The experimental runoff risk

analysis data is generated at least once a day at the NCRFC to

represent the maximum risk for each Great Lakes state out to

10 days.

The state partners use the experimental runoff risk analysis

data for optimized application of nutrients, which is expected

to support safe water quality and healthy ecosystems in local

watersheds and ultimately large bodies of water such as the

Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico.

This data can be accessed from the following webpage:

The NWS is seeking comments on the format and usability of the

experimental runoff risk analysis data (Version 2) for the Great

Lakes states.  Comments received will be used to determine if

this product should be transitioned to operational status as

well as to assess the viability and need for this information

across the country. Comments on this experimental product may be

provided to NWS by November 30, 2018, using the following

feedback page:
