SUBJECT:  Transition to Operational Status of Experimental

Spanish Tsunami Messages for Puerto Rico, Virgin

Islands, U.S. East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico,

          Effective May 15, 2014

Effective May 15, 2014, the Spanish tsunami messages for Puerto

Rico, Virgin Islands, U.S. East Coast, and the Gulf of Mexico

will transition from experimental to operational.  The National

Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC) tested the new products in Spanish

for this region to help ensure that users in areas where the

native language is Spanish can understand the messages. No

feedback was received from the public comment period.

The new products mimic the bulleted English products provided for

that region.  The format and content is the same.  The Spanish

products will be issued on the same NWS Service channels as the

English products: NOAA Weather Wire, EMWIN, etc.

The new Spanish product headers and corresponding English headers

product headers are listed in Table 1.
