SUBJECT:  New Fire and Public Forecast Zones for Greenbrier

          County, West Virginia, Effective Tuesday,

          October 7, 2014

 

Effective Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at 1601 Coordinated Universal

Time (UTC), 12:01 PM EDT, the NWS Weather Forecast Office (WFO)

in Blacksburg (RNK), VA, will split its current fire and public

forecast zone for Greenbrier County, WV, in two. The current

Greenbrier County zone (WVZ045) will be divided into eastern and

western zones.  The new zones will be assigned new zone names and

numbers as shown in Table 1.

 

These changes will allow long fused watches, warnings, advisories

and forecasts for Greenbrier County to be more area specific.

The fire and public zone changes require partners and users to

take appropriate action to receive the new zone products using

the Universal Generic Code (UGC) zone code format (Z) listed in

Table 1.
