SUBJECT:   NWS to Issue National Tsunami Warning Center Spanish

           Messages for Pacific Effective August 4, 2014 


Effective August 4, 2014, at 1800 Coordinated Universal Time

(UTC), the National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC) will begin

issuing tsunami messages in Spanish for its Pacific Ocean users. 

This action follows the successful introduction of Spanish

messages for NTWC Atlantic users in 2013. The NTWC is issuing

these products in Spanish for the Pacific region to help ensure

users whose native language is Spanish can better understand the



The Spanish products will offer the same format and content as

the English products, bulleted points, etc. NWS will issue the

Spanish products on the same channels as the English products,

NOAA Weather Wire, EMWIN, etc.
