Subject:  Beta Test of WSR-88D Software Build 15 Changes and Beta

          Test Sites beginning on or about September 22, 2014 at five

          WSR-88D locations

 

The NEXRAD Program will conduct a Beta Test of the Radar Data

Acquisition/Radar Product Generator (RDA/RPG) Build 15.0 software

and hardware upgrade beginning on or about September 22, 2014 at

five WSR-88D locations. The Beta Test locations and approximate

start dates are as follows:

The content impacting external users will be limited. These

changes include:

 

1. Tuning the RPG Initial PhiDP estimate with the option to use

in RPG algorithms

 

2. Adding ability for site modification of the dual polarization

rainfall rates to address tropical and continental drop size

distributions

 

3. Adding the Supplemental Adaptive Intra-volume Low-Level Scan

(SAILS) location within the volume scan to the General Status

Message (GSM)
