Subject:  Additional Issuance of WPC Probabilistic Winter

          Precipitation Forecast Guidance Effective

          October 25, 2017

 

Effective Wednesday, October 25, 2017, beginning with the 1200

Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) issuance, the National Centers

for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Weather Prediction Center

(WPC) will update the Probabilistic Winter Precipitation

Forecast (PWPF) products more frequently to use the latest

numerical weather model output as follows:

 

- The 1200 UTC guidance, currently sent at 0630 and 0830 UTC,

will be updated and resent at 1400 UTC to incorporate the latest

numerical weather prediction guidance

- The 0000 UTC guidance, currently sent at 1830 and 2030 UTC,

will be updated and resent at 0200 UTC to incorporate the latest

numerical weather prediction guidance

 

In total, the PWPF guidance will be issued 6 times per day

 

All products will be disseminated on the Satellite Broadcast

Network (SBN), NOAAPORT, and an ftp server in GRIB2 format.

 

The PWPF guidance will continue to be available at the following

ftp site:

ftp://ftp.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/pwpf/conus_2.5km/
