Subject:  Removal of the NCEP RTOFS Atlantic Forecasting System   

          Effective March 14, 2017


Effective on or about March 14, 2017, the National Centers for

Environmental Prediction (NCEP) will discontinue the North

Atlantic Basin Real Time Ocean Forecasting System (RTOFS

Atlantic). This system has been superseded by the Global Real

Time Ocean Forecasting System (RTOFS Global), which became

operational October 2011.


NWS issued a Public Information Statement on November 14, 2016,

requesting comments on the proposed termination of this model:


Based on responses received, NCEP will discontinue the RTOFS

Atlantic. RTOFS Atlantic output products were never made

available on NOAAPORT. They are only available on the NCEP ftp

servers at:

where YYYYMMDD is the year, month and day.
