Subject:  Emergency Change to the HiResW snow

          Initialization: Effective February 14, 2017

The National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) is

making an emergency fix to the High-Resolution Window (HiResW)

model WRF-ARW system so the initial snow is properly ingested

into the model. This change will reduce a warm bias in 2 meter

temperature over snow-covered regions and, more generally, will

cool the near-surface environment over snow. The changes

will be made starting with the 12 UTC cycle on Tuesday,

February 14, 2017.

Product output impacts will be as follows:

1.    Distributed via the following Web systems:

  nomads.ncep.noaa.gov

  ftp.ncep.noaa.gov

  ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov

  -   data/nccf/com/hiresw/prod/hiresw.YYYYMMDD/

      hiresw.tCCz.arw*

      hiresw.tCCz.conusarw*

      hiresw.tCCz.akarw*

Where YYYYMMDD is Year, Month, Day and CC is cycle

More information on the HiResW model can be found at:

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/products/hiresw/

2. All output distributed over NOAAPORT/SBN for the ARW members.
